2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Stagecoach Vineyard, Napa Valley

2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Stagecoach Vineyard, Napa Valley

Our limited production 2009 is a blend of 95% Stagecoach Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Blackwood Vineyard Petit Verdot 1.5% Lake Cynthia Merlot, and 1.5% Gibson Vineyard Cabernet Franc. This mountain-grown Cabernet came from 13 year old vines in the Pritchard Hill area of Stagecoach Vineyard at elevations from 900-1800 feet. This site is known for the rugged volcanic rock, well-drained soils and the cool fog that keeps the vineyard between 1-2°C below the Oakville mean temperature.

Tasting Notes:

Aged in Taransaud and Darnajou new French Oak barrels and true to the style of our 2004 Indy International Double Gold Medal winner, it has a medium deep, dark red color with a ruby garnet hue. The nose is exhibiting some nice red fruit notes that compliment the subtle toasty oak notes layered with spice and earthy components. Vibrant in the entry, there is loads of fresh ripe fruit flavors, anchored by firm tannins that add a nice long finish to this elegant wine. Enjoy now or allow to improve for another 4-6 years of bottle aging.

2009 Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

2009 Pinot Noir, La Encantada Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills

Our 2009 Pinot Noir comes from La Encantada vineyard of Richard Sanford in Santa Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbra County. This wine is 100% Pinot Noir blended with three Pinot clones: 92% clone 667, 6% clone 777 and 2% clone 115.

Tasting Notes:

The vineyard shows the central coast characteristics of cherry, plum and aromatic dark fruit. It has fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity – the pleasant kind and not the “strip the enamel” from your teeth kind. The vineyard is located on Santa Rosa Road on a sun drenched hillside above the valley just a few miles away from where some of the movie “Sideways” was filmed. Aged in a Vicard and Radoux new French Oak barrel.
